ABOUT ME
Early life
I'm a Belgian artist who’s been drawing for as long as I can remember. Art was never just a hobby. It was a calling. At 19, I followed that passion and enrolled in an airbrush course. That step marked the beginning of a journey that continues to evolve every day.
Medium
For me, art isn’t bound by materials. It's shaped by shadow and light. Whether I’m working with acrylics or pixels, the essence remains the same: to bring my imagination to life. Ideas and knowledge grows, and I allow my medium to evolve along with it.
Exhibits and gallery
In 2002, I began showing my work at (inter)national art fairs like Airtist and Zibodem. At 24, I had my first solo exhibition at Huyze Leopold in Bruges. A few years later, I received the 1er Prix d’honneur vermeille at the 38th Art Contest of Wallonie.
In 2020, I opened my own permanent art space, Creations by Frederik Gheysen in Nieuwpoort, where you see me working on my new pieces.
Artist Statement
On a white empty square, I try to show you the beauty of fragility. I try to capture feelings that are not always spoken out loud.
I don’t try to offer answers, but mirrors.
These mirrors let you escape for a moment. To pause. To feel. And ultimately, to rediscover something you’ve always known deep within.
A Personal Note
With my work, I aim to create a deeper connection. Something that touches the universal, yet feels deeply personal. A spark that makes it feel as if the piece was made just for you.

Five years ago, I decided to drop my anchor here, and since then, this place has become my creative home.
In my gallery, I not only showcase my own work but also offer a space to fellow artists whose creations I admire.
Inspired by the enchanting Nieuwpoort and the talent around me, I continue to create new works. Those who stop by will not only breathe in the salty sea air but also immerse themselves in an atmosphere of art and inspiration.
